Verbal Oasis Spoken Word Festival Labor Day Weekend September 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th FREE OUTDOOR EVENT Rainier Beach Community Center Outdoor Pavilion 8825 Rainier Ave S, Seattle, WA 98118 Inspired Child Presents The Children's Open Mic Hosted by Monique Franklin The Children's Open Mic Band: Brittany Davis (Keys), Darry Wilmore (Bass), and Christopher Patin (Drums) Sunday September 4 @ 1-2:30 pm Monday September 5 @ 1-2:30pm Do you have a little performer? Please join us in developing and celebrating the creativity of children. Children and families will have the opportunity to participate in the open mic, enjoy performances by local adult and teen artists, engage in experimentation with instruments, dramatic play and art projects intended to build and maintain self-efficacy and self-esteem. The Childrens Open Mic is a child-centered, family engagement event focusing on developing the creativity of children ages 2 -12 while providing teens with paid opportunities to write commissioned pieces, build their performance resume and step into a mentorship role. We seek to create a place for children to feel safe; where their voices and families are respected, honored and heard. Show Set: 1 -1:30 pm Creation & Exploration Stations: Tap Dance, Art, and Poetry 1:30 - 2:30pm Open Mic & Feature Performances COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS: For the safety of our beloved community, we ask all audience members to wear a mask during the entirety of this outdoor event. Masks are required for entry. We will also be doing temperature checks upon entry and collecting contact information for contact tracing to ensure we can notify our audience if the need arises. This event is ticketed and attendance will be limited to ensure proper social distancing and Covid safety best practices. We ask that if you are not feeling well to please stay home. We ask this in love and with you and your loved ones in mind. together we can keep each other safe. Thank you in advance.
